Home Show update: 9 of the HUGE booths are being built! The Wardcraft home is in place outside. 9 smaller booths are built! Good first day despite the high winds that kept a few exhibitors from traveling. Mayhem tomorrow!

Time is running out to get your booth at the Kearney Home and Builders Show January 13-15. Times are 1:00 -8:00 Friday, 10:00-8:00 Satuday, 11:00-5:00 Sunday. Move in dates for exhibitors are Thursday 8:00 - 8:00 and Friday 8:00 -11:00. $325 for the first 10x10. $300 for each additional 10x10.

My builders are trying to keep in compliance with OSHA. So instead of building today, they are sitting in the seminar listening to Great Plains Safety and Health tell them how to comply. There seems to be some grumbling but very little so far. Mick is talking about the harnesses with shock absorbers. Belts are outlawed...they will cut you in half. He still picks them up off job sites. Scary.

LB546 Passes Final Reading! All-We have very good news to report! The Legislature passed the 2009 Residential Building Code bill WITHOUT fire sprinklers on Friday, April 8 on a vote of 31 yes, 9 no and 4 not voting! The bill now goes to the Governor for his approval. Please email senators and thank them for supporting the bill and email the Governor expressing your support for LB 546 and urge him to sign the bill.

Good news! The Legislature advanced Sen. Gloor's LB 546, which adopts the 2009 IRC WITHOUT fire sprinklers, from Select File, the second round of floor consideration to Final Reading, the third and final stage of legislative debate. An amendment to adopt the 2006 IRC was defeated. Also, Sen. Galen Hadley of Kearney announced that he would seek an interim study examining building code adoption and whether there should be agency involvement in the process at the state level. The bill will likely be voted on next week and upon its passage will go to the Governor for his approval. Please contact every senator and thank them for their support of LB 546 and urge them to pass it when it is back on the agenda.
